On our third day in Ireland, we drove around the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry County. The rocky shores juxtaposed against the bright grassy greens were amazing. This was one of the best parts of our trip.
(L) Presumably the ruins of an old farm house. There were many like this along the way. The fields like those depicted below apparently haven't been cultivated since the great potato famine in 1845. Ever since the famine, the fields have pretty much only been used for grazing. (R) This is supposedly a 2-lane road! Driving our large American mini-van on these roads was entertaining, to say the least.
(Above) You can see the rock fences that were built centuries ago as a result of locals trying to till and remove rocks from the soil.
(Above and Below) We went for a small hike up a hill to get a view of the end of the peninsula.
(Above) Don't worry, the edge was MUCH further away than it appears in this photo! We were extremely wary of keeping the kids away from edges and I can now understand what my parents went through when we visited places such as the Grand Canyon.
(Above) The Gallarus Oratory- built 1,300 years ago. This is one of Ireland's best-preserved early-Christian churches. It is shaped like an up-turned boat and its walls are still waterproof to this day.
(Above and Below) The ruins of the church of Kilmalkedar, formerly a Norman center of worship. Dates to the 12th Century.

The landscape is so amazing. I love the green and the rock fences. You took such great pictures. And on a side note, Jack is looking sooooo tall!
One word; WOW! The boys also like to play hide and seek in old ruins and castles. Hope you didn't buy the hats.

I keep confusing Lucas with jack in that shirt! Looks fun.
