Yorkshire: Rievaulx Abbey

During our trip up north, we stopped by the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, one of the first Cistercian abbeys founded in England. It was founded in 1132 and dissolved by Henry VIII in 1538. The weather was perfect- it's not often you see skies that blue here in England. And the abbey's setting in the picturesque River Rye Valley in the Yorkshire Moors, along with its bright, well-kept greens made it an idyllic visit.
