Mainz Volkspark

A friend took us to the greatest park in Mainz. They had wonderful playground equipment, totally unsafe by U.S. standards. On the right below is a huge fountain area that children can play in. I would have loved that as a kid!

Here's me at the top. I was surprised at how high it was once I got up there.

(R) This man was working as a surveyor at the park. I pretended to take a picture of one of the kids when I turned the camera in his direction. My friend told me that lederhosen are considered "work clothes."

Around Wiesbaden

(L) I love this picture of Jack. What a precious boy.

Sunday walk in the park: It was August, and already the leaves were starting to change color.

(R) View from the roof of our hotel.

Drive Up the Rhine River

I can't believe how high and steep they plant these vineyards.

Life in a Hotel

Believe it or not, our hotel room had no bathtub! Thank heavens for a friend in Germany who gave me her baby tub.
Aaron stayed in this hotel for 8 weeks; Jack and I stayed for 3 weeks. We are so glad that's over!

Jack's 1-Year-Old Photos

While still in Idaho I took Jack to get his birthday photos taken. It wasn't the greatest session; we had a really hard time getting him to smile. I was pleased with the way the "mommy & me" photos turned out, though.
At the time these were taken we'd been moved out of Maryland for a month and a half, living out of suitcases, and he'd grown out of many of the clothes I brought for him. This poor outfit he's wearing, which I never would have selected, will always remind me of those 2 months of homelessness.

Second Day in Deutschland

If you only knew the @#$ I went through to get these posted....

View of Wiesbaden from one of the wings of the hotel

A park on the way to the downtown area. Reminds me of the Sound of Music.

A small German grocery store near our new house. I love to see the bicycles out front.
