During the 4th of July holiday weekend, we drove to Ireland, stopping in Holyhead, Wales where we took a superferry across the Irish Sea to Dublin. None of us had been to Ireland before so this was a trip we've been anticipating for a long time. We spent our first day in Dublin, but found the city to be rather dull, with little to see of historical or aesthetic interest. The next day, we made our way to the west coast. The first site we stopped at were the Cliffs of Moher (or, for The Princess Bride fans, the Cliffs of Insanity). The views were absolutely stunning!
(L) On my knees, I peaked over the edge of a straight, approximately 600 ft drop. I was too chicken to take the pic standing up. (R) This site is an apparently popular spot for suicides. There were several posters at the site advertising free counseling to those with depression or other issues.
(Above) On the way to the west coast of Ireland, we drove through Moneygall, which happens to be an ancestral village of President Obama.
