August Recap

Things have been pretty slow-paced here since we came back from our trip to America, and it's been wonderful! With class and traveling, life seems so busy. It's also been the strangest summer I've experienced, weather-wise. All of August was gray and drizzly. But I'm not complaining; it's better than being too hot!

(R) Lucas bumped his head on something perfectly round...not sure what it was. The kid seems to get a new bruise on his forehead every day.

My basil is doing really well, and so is the oregano. I've really enjoyed growing these this year.

(L) We also have lavender plants in our yard. Lavender seems very prevalent here.
(M) Fresh basil to make homemade pesto; (R) Fresh herbs to mix into cream cheese as a spread for crusty bread.

Lucas really likes to climb.

(R) Doing "pwuzzles."

(L) I'm sure every mom's favorite thing to do is snuggle the little one.

Dancing to music from the toy on the fridge.

Occasionally these two play well together.

We were bored last Sunday evening, so we drove nearby to the Rhine and watched the ferry go back and forth. Love the gorgeous vineyard hills.

At the Park Today

(L) Seeing this image just made me think about all that has happened since we've lived in Germany, how our family has grown. Jack used to ride in the baby swing (at right 1 year ago), and now he's grown into such a big boy, and the baby is now a toddler.

This orange swing is very popular.

I was very happy with my camera today. This was taken at almost 10x zoom. The gray behind him is the sky! We got soaked on the way home.

I'm not going to be modest; this is one handsome boy!

Lucas makes this funny scrunched face that I love. His little teeth are so cute.
Yep, I'm a pretty lucky mom.

Splish Splash

It's been raining on and off here. Water collects on the lid of the sandbox. The boys had a great time splashing in it, especially Lucas.

My Birthday

The day after my birthday, I went out to eat with some girlfriends (not a birthday occasion, just a girls night out). Then afterward we had dessert at one friend's house, and she had a birthday candle for me.

This tells you what great friends I have. You probably know I have an obsession with Yankee Candles. These girls each picked out one scent and gave it to me as a collective birthday gift. I was thrilled, to say the least!

And this is the cake Aaron got for me from the German grocery store. I wish you all could taste it.
As a family we went on Saturday to a delicious Asian buffet in our town. Boy, do I love that place!

Jack Turns 3!

Jack had a morning birthday party. We had strawberry banana pancakes with candles. Jack got to help make them like Curious George does in one of Jack's favorite books, Curious George Makes Pancakes.

Checking out the new presents.

It was an exciting two days. The night before Jack's birthday, Aaron hit his head on a door, and we spent 2.5 hours with the kids in the ER so he could get 2 stitches (got home at 10:30). The next morning we had Jack's birthday party, and that afternoon Aaron had an out-patient sinus surgery that we all went to. Jack went to bed early on his birthday willingly. Aaron is doing fine.

It's been three years since my precious boy was born and my life changed forever.
We love Jack!
