Wrest Park

Hi everyone. We are way behind on this blog. I'm trying to finish up the last of my masters requirements, and really don't have time for much else. But we're gonna try to catch up a little bit.
This new version of blogger is a PAIN, and explains my uncomfortable formatting...

Anyway, back in November we visited this estate called Wrest Park, which was very lovely.

Accompanying the house were expansive gardens/grounds that you could walk around (mostly grass and some trees, no flowers this time of year). But the fall foliage was beautiful.
Below is the outside and inside of the Orangery, the place they kept the orange trees during the winter.

Below right, a little place at the edge of the garden opposite the house where they would receive guests for afternoon tea.

This was one of my favorite parts of the garden, the "outdoor room." It was a space enclosed by bushes where a lady would come to sit and read. I would love to have a peaceful place like this.

Here we are walking through the grounds. On the right is the Dog Cemetery. All the household pets were buried here.

(L) Some old British men playing croquet. How picturesque.
(R) Guess what time this picture was taken.... 1:45 pm! During the winter we have little daylight and the sun never rises very high in the sky. This is one aspect of living in Britain that I do not love.

Above, the outside and inside of the conservatory. There were a few rooms open for viewing, all unfurnished.

They were doing some renovating of the lawns. And thank you to the elderly visitor who ensured that our feet were in the picture.
